Lean Tools - Parade of Trades and Managing Design
Speakers: Gus Sestrap, Turner Construction Company Jeffrey May, CH2M HILL Speaker Bios: Gus Sestrap Gus Sestrap oversees some of the most prestigious construction projects in North America, and he has a unique perspective on jobsite productivity. It's his responsibility to make sure things happen safely and profitably on projects like the new Seahawks Stadium in Seattle. Jeffrey May Mr. May has over 32 years of design and construction experience, including 22 years in the semiconductor industry. He is well-versed in managing both design engineers and construction contractors, mitigating schedule constraints, forecasting budgets, and solving design and field construction issues. He has extensive knowledge in international and domestic building codes and safety compliance. He has worked as a Lean Steward for more than three years on multiple projects both domestically and internationally.
Whether you work on big projects or little ones, success is the name of the game, and speed is part of that. Understanding, managing and receiving buy-in to the Parade of Trades is the key. Gus will share his successes -- and how he coined the Parade of Trade name (think Animal House).

LCI Arizona Chapter
The Lean Construction Institute (LCI), a non-profit research organization, was founded in August 1997. LCI's purpose is to develop and disseminate new knowledge regarding the management of work in design, engineering and construction for capital facilities. LCI has developed the Lean Project Delivery System© (LPDS), and the Last Planner® System of production control. Lean Construction is a production management-based approach to project delivery - a new way to design and build capital facilities. Lean production management has caused a revolution in manufacturing design, supply and assembly. Applied to construction, Lean changes the way work is done throughout the delivery process. Lean Construction extends from the objectives of a lean production system - maximize value and minimize waste - to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process extending from project definition through design, supply and assembly.
The Arizona Chapter of LCI has been developed to provide local lean support to owners, architects and designers, engineers, contractors, specialty contractors and suppliers who are doing business in the state of Arizona. We invite owners and project delivery team members to meet together as a local user group to learn, share and develop a lean community in Arizona.
